The application period for the 2025 Pennsylvania State Police Law and Leadership Academy is now open and applications are being accepted through April 10, 2025.

The program is designed to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and those individuals in the community seeking a career in law enforcement. The program will provide those enrolled with an opportunity to experience the process of becoming a cadet in a law enforcement academy. The program will run Mondays 5:30PM- 8:00PM, Wednesdays from 8:30AM-11:00AM from May 19-August 6, 2025, and two Saturdays, June 14 2025 and July 19, 2025 from 8:30AM – 11:00AM.

The program is free to those accepted and is modeled after the police academies that adults attend to become sworn law enforcement officers. The program is geared to accommodate any individual over age 18 and has graduated from high school or obtained a GED. The program is for applicants seeking a career as a law enforcement officer. The applicant shall reside or attend school in the Southwest Pennsylvania area, which encompasses the southwest region.

The program has aspects of a “Paramilitary” organization and individuals will be introduced to physical training such as running, swimming, and marching. Individuals will get a firsthand look into the process of becoming a law enforcement officer. The curriculum will include instruction on traffic. criminal investigations, and other police resources. Individual cadets will also learn time management, self-discipline, and teamwork.
